Multi-branded

I’ve talked with a few of you who have spent time distribubting under multiple brands. Without the specifics, I’m just curious how many you may have been with. Don’t give me brand names, but if you switched companies, what did you think was greener on the other side? Better support, better margin, better  …? Was it?

I have been with two brands. I switched because the previous company was force shipping product and tool boxes that I did not order. I could not order tools for my customers for most of the last two years I was with them.

The company I am with now does not intefere with my business. They know that I know how to operate a tool business after being with the previous company for ten years. They also try very hard to help me be successful.

    Ken,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope things continue to stay green where you are — it’s good to hear that things got better.

    Ken,
Would be great to know the before and after brands you went with. I am glad you got with a better brand, but would save some of us a possible mistake by knowing who ships like your first brand.
    Thanks,
    Bob

The first brand was Snap-On. I am now with Cornwell.

In what part of the country are you a Cornwell dist. I ask b/c I am a Matco dist in Ga and aside for the one Cornwell guy I run with, I had never heard of them untill I graduated from the body shop. I get along well with the Cornwell guy as we work together to find skips. Is the company much stronger in other states, because some of the prices in your sales cataloges are outstanding.
